During the Zurich Premiership 2000/2001 points will be awarded as follows: 4 points will be awarded for a win 2 points will be awarded for a draw 1 point will be awarded to a team that loses a match by 7 points or less 1 point will be awarded to a team scoring 4 tries or more in a match The top eight teams finishing in the Zurich Premiership will qualify for a separate tournament with a separate trophy - the Zurich Championship.
The Zurich Championship will be important in deciding qualification and ranking position for the following season's European competitions.
The Zurich Championship is a play-off competition which will start on 28 April with clubs 1 to 4 in the Zurich Premiership playing at home to clubs placed 8 to 5 respectively. The Zurich Championship Semi Finals will take place on 5 May, and the Zurich Championship Grand Final will be played at Twickenham on 12 May.
